THE TIP OFF: DEBORAH LIPPMANN The master manicurist shares her tips for creating three runway-ready nail designs. Backstage at fashion week or any major awards show, you can find manicurist Deborah Lippmann holding hands with supermodels, chart-topping songstresses, and A-list actors. She creates their nail looks with her namesake polish line, an impressive collection of crème finishes, glitters, shimmers, and more. Here are three fresh—and D.I.Y.-friendly—designs we can’t wait to get our hands on. RENEE TRILIVAS LAYERED: “When it comes to layering, the sky is the limit!” she says. “It’s so exciting to create your own personalized look.” She suggests topping She Bop (a hot pink hue), Lilac Wine (a bright lilac shade), or Chasing Pavements (a pale gray tint)—all exclusive Sephora shades—with 99 Luftballons (also exclusive), an eye-catching pink packed with confetti-like glitter. DUET NAIL: “That’s my term for a French manicure with two colors other than pink and white,” Lippmann explains. Noah Incase some of you ever wonder how much prep actually goes into each fashion week, the answer is A LOT. Exhibit A (photos above) preparing for something that is still a month away, but has secretly been in the works since February. Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of joining 19 of my other friends who have worked with Tumblr on their fashion week program in the past 5 plus seasons. Together we were all reached out by Valentine, Tumblr’s always creative fashion evangelist. None of us knew who else was selected until yesterday morning, but what we did know is that we’d be apart of tumblr’s first ever fashion photo exhibit open at Milk during New York Fashion Week. That we’d be paired with a fashion personality, magazine, or a house for a creative apprenticeship to collaborate on. The time limit would last a few hours, few days, or few weeks, and that Sony would be providing support. Little did we know they’d be providing us with their newest Nex-5R, DSLR approved camera and Xperia tablet Z - which also happens to be waterproof! We still don’t know who our co-creators will be yet, so stay tuned for updates along this month long journey to fashion week. Thank you Tumblr and Sony! It’s been a few months since we’ve seen or heard anything about Phillip Lim’s upcoming Target collaboration, but here we got a glimpse at its ad campaign. Emily Johnston, who writes the blog Fashion Foie Gras, spotted the ad in a magazine. “Is that a little Pashli we see?” she asked on Instagram, referring to Lim’s popular satchel. The Wall Street Journal reported that the collection’s bags for both men and women will be priced under $60, and most other pieces will fall between $20 and $75. Men’s and women’s leather jackets will be priced between $250 and $300. The capsule is scheduled to be in Target stores on Sept. 15, three days after presentations of the Spring 2014 collections wrap up in New York City.
