vintagelasvegas: Construction of the Stardust, 1955 “Tony Cornero’s Stardust Hotel” Cornero founded the hotel-casino and financed it through private sale of stock. A year into the project, summer 1955, the hotel was said to be in final stages of construction with 1000 rooms built. Cornero was also by that time facing a battle for his gambling license and investigation by the SEC into Stardust stock sales. He suffered a heart attack on the casino floor at Desert Inn and died hours later in a room at the hotel on 7/31/55. Stardust opened three years later. (Las Vegas News Bureau)

Here’s one of the few decent shots I managed to capture outside of #lascruces #newmexico by the #tortugasmountain #observatory back in late April of this year. I went there in hope of getting some good night sky photos, but none of those had turned out. #visitlascruces #newmexicotrue #desert #southwest #SeeTheUSA #DoAmerica #travelmyway #takethehighway #openroad #sunset #sunsetsundays #roadtrip #travel #travelphotography #travelblogger #ridewithme #backroads66 #roadtrippin #nikon #d5300 #sigmalens #spacetrail https://www.instagram.com/p/Byv1b1UFnDQ/?igshid=nyfy5doooa7c
