All living beings deserve to live. Choose Veg.
Yeah, cuz dogs and cows are interchangeable. Let me just domesticate a fucking cow in my one bedroom apartment.
I’m going to go get some sausage
So because you can’t have cattle as companions in an apartment it’s ok to at them? Your logic is astoundingly flawed.
Cattle are wonderful companions, they just need different care. They have distinct personalities just like dogs do, they bond with people and other animals like dogs do, and they are fun to be around. My guess is that you’ve never actually interacted with cattle before, besides the flesh on your plate.
Cattle are sentient beings just like dogs. If you loved animals you would extend your compassion to all species, not just the ones arbitrarily chosen to be companions in our society.
Newsflash: animals are only worth not abusing if they can be walked on a leash and fetch your slippers. (ironically, cows can also be trained to do both).
its disgusting the way carnists believe an animal only has worth if they have something to contribute to us
wow people on this post need to back the hell up.
How do we survive? by eating. Eating meat is part of our survival, always has been and always will be. You think killing these animals for our benefit is cruel? you clearly need to go walk in a farmers shoes. Cows were bred so rapidly for OUR survival. If it wasn’t cows, pigs etc it would be goats or deer. Take your pick. Which breed would you like to kill?
Don’t pull vegetarian bullshit because its proven a lot of people wouldn’t survive on a vegetarian diet. We need meat. Don’t you dare sit there saying farmers don’t care about their animals. Farmers are VERY well known for committing suicide because they borrow millions of dollars off their banks to help in drought times so they can just afford FEED, yet their cattle still die on them.. they end their lives because the depression of letting their country down takes over. You say its cruel? I say you are cruel for sitting there telling people they are doing it wrong, when they put their heart and soul into these animals for YOUR benefit. If you think its cruel you need a reality check. I dare you to go live in a family where their living depends on the breeding, selling and killing of these animals, then sit at their table and say its cruel to kill their animals.
I dare you.
I will also add that yes there are slaughter houses our there that are cruel but their are many organisations working on closing them down. BUT there is also many slaughter houses out there that kill the animal with respect because after all they are letting us survive.
“Eating meat is part of our survival, always has been and always will be.”
Ancient Humans Were Nearly All Vegetarian
Societies that hunted, would do so a lot less than what the media projects. These people did not have the technological advancement to be able to live off of plants alone. We do. Comparing out needs to the needs of ancient peoples is a bit silly. Humans are omnivores, but we can survive on a vegan diet alone. We cannot survive on meat alone.
If we could live our lives without harming another being, why wouldn’t we?
“you clearly need to go walk in a farmers shoes.”
I have. I was an animal science student and had experiences with beef cattle, dairy cows, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and rabbits. I have seen, and even participated in some terrible things. I have literally seen it all, from birth to slaughter. You’ve picked the wrong person to debate this with.
“its proven a lot of people wouldn’t survive on a vegetarian diet. We need meat. ”
Oh, I wasn’t aware that I was actually dead.

In rare cases, people have serious health issues that make going vegan or vegetarian impossible. We accept this and do not blame these people. Indigenous people who MUST hunt to survive are also not looked down upon. These people need meat to live - you do not.
“Farmers are VERY well known for committing suicide because they borrow millions of dollars off their banks to help in drought times”
This has literally nothing to do with animal cruelty and veganism. Stop deflecting the topic away from the issue at hand in a desperate attempt to make us feel bad.
“ I dare you to go live in a family where their living depends on the breeding, selling and killing of these animals, then sit at their table and say its cruel to kill their animals.”
I have had this discussion with many of my professors at ag school. They all raised animals for meat or dairy and eggs. I have also discussed this with people who raise animals here. You don’t have to “dare” me, I willingly take part in debates with farmers.
“BUT there is also many slaughter houses out there that kill the animal with respect because after all they are letting us survive.”
Utterly illogical. Even on-site slaughter houses have no respect for animals. You cannot take the life of a living being while still respecting them (actual survival aside). If you respected them, you would allow them to live out their lives free of pain and suffering.
Wow grow up! Animals get bred for killing you imbecile. Yeah you have points but the main point is you’re never going to stop a practice that has been going on since the end of time.
You can debate it all you want and call it cruel but it’s not.
Another fact is I do need meat to survive. I’d rather eat a cow then take iron deficiency tablets my whole life/be in and out of hospital. Some can survive but some can’t.
Don’t even bring aboriginals/indigenous people in to this. If you knew anything you’d know they respect the killing of animals, so much in fact each person in a tribe has their own animal they are forbidden to kill.
You talked to a professor? So have I and most of them are pussies that doesn’t run a farm for a living and if they did they sure as hell wouldn’t be a school teacher but good for you, now go actually LIVE on a farm with a family that survives on the breeding and killing of these animals. (Doing animal science doesn’t count). Yes I am making you feel bad with the suicide (which is relevant) because you carrying on saying every animal should live is going to destroy every farmer out there that makes an income on breeding and selling these animals to slaughter houses.
Unlike you who is saying every slaughter house is cruel, I’m keeping a open mind and saying that a LOT of slaughter houses are cruel but there is a few out their that actually do respect the animal and kill them humanely by just a knock to the head.
Another thing is fuck you. You can’t tell me to be vegan. Also no I don’t think I’m superior than animals, I love animals. But I won’t be like “oh no you can’t kill them!” That’s like saying we must keep every human being alive?! Are you stupid. Yes lets let every living being stay alive. No. Then without a doubt we would be over popularised and it would be disgusting and then animals would have no where to live. YOU CAN NOT KEEP EVERYTHING LIVING THING ALIVE!!!
You just…wow. You misread half of what I said. Literally.
Don’t even bring aboriginals/indigenous people in to this. If you knew anything you’d know they respect the killing of animals
This is what I said: Indigenous people who MUST hunt to survive are also not looked down upon. These people need meat to live - you do not.
I know that many indigenous cultures respect the animals they hunt, they NEED to eat animals to survive. YOU do not. You completely misunderstood my point here.
You talked to a professor? So have I and most of them are pussies that doesn’t run a farm for a living
I have had this discussion with many of my professors at ag school. They all raised animals for meat or dairy and eggs.
Did you read that? I’ll say it again: They ALL raised animals on their own farms. I repeat: MY PROFESSORS WERE IN THE ANIMAL AGRICULTURE BUSINESS. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be professors in dairy management, beef management, animal science, etc. You realize that to be a professor they must have hands on experience. My animal science teacher bred goats boer goats and had her own dairy in addition to being a part-time professor.
LIVE on a farm with a family that survives on the breeding and killing of these animals. (Doing animal science doesn’t count).
Yeah, my university was a working farm. It counts. I have seen and/or been forced to participate in: birth (cattle, horses, goats, sheep, rabbits), ear notching, tagging, sheering, tail docking, removal of testicles (pigs and cattle), slaughter (cattle, chicken), gestation crates, general wellness exams, trailering, butchering (cattle, pigs, chickens), bottle feeding (calves, kids, lambs) and a shit ton more.
I don’t think you understand how animal science and agricultural schools work…
LOT of slaughter houses are cruel but there is a few out their that actually do respect the animal and kill them humanely by just a knock to the head
That’s not respect. That means their workers are better trained. Which is great. But I repeat: killing an innocent life for money and a taste on your tongue can never translate into respect. Logic, use it.
Another thing is fuck you. You can’t tell me to be vegan. Also no I don’t think I’m superior than animals, I love animals.
Wait, so posting my opinion on my own fucking blog is telling you, you personally, that you have to be vegan? Are you shitting me? Am I currently forcing tofu down your throat? Get over it.
You do think you are superior. If you didn’t you wouldn’t be ok with people raising animals to be killed, nor would you be ok with people exploiting animals in any capacity. I think you don’t understand the meaning of love. You may love some animals, such as dogs or cats. But you literally can’t love an animal, such as a pig, if you pay someone to fucking abuse it for you.
This was one of the most mind numbing responses I’ve ever read. You clearly couldn’t see through your blind, ridiculous rage to actually comprehend my words. Your ableism is disgusting, and frankly your anger is hilarious.
Use some common sense the next time you respond to me, or anyone else. And extend your compassion to other living beings, instead of only thinking of your tastebuds. If you care, you’ll do some research. If you don’t you will ignore the fact that your next burger was once a life.
Either way, do me one favor: watch this. It’s not graphic.
Dogs taste like shit!!!
I was going to kiss her [1-year-old daughter Alice] good-bye the other morning. The first time she let me give her a kiss, so I said, Bye Alice! Then she put her cheek out again so I was like aw, I’ll kiss her again, Bye bye Alice! And then I went to kiss her a third time, and she went like this:
She came at me hard! I had to tell her, Alice I don’t like you like that.
