Went to Ausburg and visited a few Christmas markets, including one that is organised by the local community.
Also joined a local tour of a living commune that still charges rental of 0.88 Euro per year!!!
Ausburg is a city of canals with fast moving water that was once used to power industries and machines. Saw a trout in the canal, but it was well camouflaged and was only detected when it had moved.
Dinner was a wild deer goulash that was hunted down in the vicinity. Surprisingly not tough or gamy, that meal was hearty enough to warm the body on a cold windy night.
Not forgetting mugs of Gluhwein and Orangenpunsch. 😆
Auf Wiedersehen!!! (at Augsburg, Germany)
Last breakfast in Munich.
The herring bun was good. The herring was fresh and didn’t smell much, and onion slices provided sweetness to taste.
Ate as many white sausages and drank as many beers as I could. 😅
(at Munich, Germany)
Last stop at Munich. Went around the Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt.
Weather was very windy and cold, but with clear blue skies. (at Munich, Germany)
Walk around Ghent. (at Gent, Belgium)
Had our waffles again, this time at a Ghent cafe because everyone wanted to sit down after a long day of walking.
Waffles tasted even better, and I prefer the one with butter and icing sugar than with whipped cream, which was a tad too sweet.
Truly a remarkable experience tasting Belgium waffles. 😋 (at Brasserie Contrast)
Dinner at Ghent. This place offers bigger, fresher, and tastier mussels.
We ordered two pots of mussels: with white wine, and with garlic and cream sauce. (at De Kuip Van Gent)
Snacks during a break.
Fried drumlets were so good, juicy and with their special marination. As you take a bite, you could see an orange layer between the flesh.
Surprisingly, this place offers potato fries with buns, bane for those on keto diet. (at Fritland)
From the Grand Palace, we explored the little alleyways, which are in fact connected to each other.
Lots of shops selling chocolates, waffles, and potato fries. The air was permeated with strong whiff of chocolate smell.
As for the waffles, I prefer the classic rectangular shape as it’s soft, light, and fluffy. The circular waffles are denser and this able to hold toppings better. (at Brussels, Belgium)
Part 2 of the Grand Palace of Brussels. (at Grand Palace)
We began our city tour by travelling from Brussels Midi train station to Brussels Central train station.
From the Central Station, it’s just a short walking distance to the Grand Palace.
A very different part of town although it’s just a train station away from each other. (at Grand Palace)
Dinner at Brussels.
Ordered mussels cooked in white wine and another pot cooked with curry, which was too mild. Mussels were cooked to perfection, not too rubbery. Can also request for free baguette to be dipped into the mussels sauce.
Was there due to a 15% discount voucher from tourist information centre. (at Chez Leon)
at Karlův Most (Charles Bridge)
Part 3. (at Prague, Czech Republic)
Part two. (at Prague, Czech Republic)
Free tour around Prague. Part 1. (at Prague, Czech Republic)
All the grilled meat: trout, pork ribs, pork knuckle, and pork neck.
The pork neck was so good: juicy, tender and flavourful. Hence, we ordered a second serving of grilled pork neck. 😅 (at Krčma v Šatlavské ulici)
Early evening around the town. (at Cesky Krumlov)
Bought new pairs of boots from Bata of Czech Republic, which provided us with confidence walking on the slippery cobblestones. (at Cesky Krumlov)
Walk around the old city and the castle. (at Cesky Krumlov)
Dinner at Cesky Krumlov, consisting of mixed grills. (at Krčma v Šatlavské ulici)
